My Virtual Classroom...

This is the one of the first things you see when you enter my classroom, and I think it is one of my favorite parts about my classroom as it says a lot about my classroom atmosphere and what I hope the students understand upon entering it, as well as what we can all try and strive to/for on a daily basis...

My Classoom

So this is it, this is my classroom - student stuff and all! We spent the last year and a half in transition on-site in portables and anywhere/everywhere else while our new school was being built right behind us! Sometimes the walls rattled or the humming and beeping of construction machinery was too much to handle, but we made it through and we now have a brand new school to enjoy and lots of technology to play with and learn to use!

Immersion Connection

This is where my classroom doors open and connect to the doors of my Japanese Immersion partner teacher, Ayumi! After three years of working in immersion and having to exit my classroom and enter the classroom of my partner teacher to communicate, as far as I'm concerned, these doors are the best thing that ever happened to immersion...

Storage, Storage, and More Storage!

Look at all the storage they built into our new building. I honestly cannot say that I utilize the upper storage very well as it is rather challenging to get to on a regular basis, however the cabinets on the bottom and the sliding white boards provide us with ample space to put everything we need - which is a welcome change.

Computer Center

We try to use them, but I don't think we do nearly as much as we should/could be! That is something that I would like to work on next year, some sort of literacy/writing stations where each student can use it during a certain time slot so they are guaranteed some time on them...

The Futon

Need I say more? All of my students love the futon! I have tried to get rid of it, but even with fifth graders it is a popular gathering place, and sometimes they just need to get out of their seats! It slouches a little, and has sort of a personality of its own, but over the years it has become a special member of my classroom furniture collection...

The Sink Area

We try to recycle, I try not to always have my "junk" everywhere, but it doesn't always work out as planned...

Promethean Board

The beloved (or should I say hated?!) promethean board. Many teachers in my building have struggled to use it effectively this year, but we are getting better and with more training will likely continue to hone our "techy" skills!

Some useful writing posters that go along with some focus lessons we do throughout the year...

My ever-growing classroom library...

and last but not least, no matter how hard I try, my always piled-to-the-top desk!

  1. What a wonderful diverse class. This is my first glimpse so I am glad you realized it wasn't posted.
